Below lists a few of our favorite activities and experiences within South America.
Sand Boarding in Paracas, Peru
This is one of our favourite activities, starting in Paracas, Peru you will be taken on a 4×4 adventure into the desert. Your trilling journey will take you sand boarding down majestic, sky scraper sand dunes which is certainly exhilarating and of course capturing a sunset of a lifetime. This adventure ends with an extravagant picnic set up under the stars in the middle of the desert.
Choquequirao Trekking, Peru (in luxury)
The Choquequirao trek is one of the most remote Inca ruins in the Peruvian Andes. It is only accessible by walking which means this area is almost remote from tourists and makes for a very special and unique trekking experience.
Choquequirao covers an area greater than Machu Picchu, it has a enormous curving bank of fine terracing, a chain of ritual baths and a central plaza surrounded by fine ceremonial and high status residential architecture. Large areas still remain covered in thick cloud forest, but gives you a great insight into how the first explores felt arriving in this deserted city.
This trek is hard and a good level of fitness is required. We go into the Apurimac canyon, cross a roaring river to climb up past Santa Rosa and Maranpata before reaching Choquequirao.
Most remote places like this require basic camping. But at Prestige World Tours we don’t camp we glamp with ultra luxury tents throughout the trek, amazing Peruvian cooked meals and a breathtaking scenery.
Nazca Lines, Peru
The Nazca lines are one of the most fascinating and important legacies of the old Peruvian pre-Inca cultures. They are located in the ‘Palpa and Nazca’ valleys of Inca. The only way to experience this spectacular site is by aircraft over the lines, see images such as the monkey, hummingbird, astronaut and wonder in the fascination on how they were created. This experience is a must when visiting Peru as it will leaving you wondering what all the lines mean how it was made!
Climbing Huayna (Wayna) Picchu, Peru
Seeing Machu Picchu at eye level is amazing, but seeing Machu Picchu from Wayna Picchu (the mountain that overlooks Machu Picchu) is certainly something to write home about.
This short yet hard trek takes about 2hours from the Machu Picchu site to reach the summit of Wayna Picchu for an extremely privileged panoramic view of the Machu Picchu Citadel and beautiful backdrop of the Andes.
This trek is rewarding but is also demanding, be prepared for narrow mountain side stairs and not recommended for vertigo suffers.
Our Unique Hotels
Why are hotels under activities? Well because staying at our selection of hotels is an adventure in itself. Our philosophy is why would we lower our standard of living when we are on holidays? We all work hard so lets spoil ourselves.
Some of the amazing hotels listed in our tours include;
- Belmond Miraflores Park hotel in Lima, Peru
- Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel at Machu Picchu, Peru
- Casa Gangotena in Quito, Ecuador
- Glamping on trek experiences
